Why Goa

A Wedding in Goa

Goa is India’s favourite beach wedding destination: two airports, large luxury resorts with beach lawns, and a relaxed setting that guests treat as a holiday. It suits couples who want a lighter, open-air feel after the palace weddings of Rajasthan.

Goa is also strict. Music must end at 10 pm outdoors, beach ceremonies need government permissions, and fireworks were banned at venues in December 2025. We plan permissions, timings and guest travel months ahead so nothing is left to the last week.

Planner’s Notes

What to Know Before Planning in Goa

Music ends at 10 pm outdoors. National noise rules ban outdoor loudspeakers from 10 pm to 6 am. In January 2026 the Goa State Pollution Control Board said there are no exemptions for weddings, with fines of ₹20,000, then ₹40,000, then ₹1 lakh. A few notified festival days allow music until midnight.
Sound permission. Sound permission is issued by the Deputy Collector / SDM, applied for at least 15 days ahead on goaonline.gov.in, and is valid until 10 pm.
Beach wedding permissions. Beach events need Tourism Department permission — 15 days’ notice for smaller events, and 3 months for events longer than 2 days or above 750 people. Sites in the coastal zone are also reviewed by the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority, which asks for at least a month.
Protected beaches. Mandrem and Morjim are turtle-nesting silent zones; the Tourism Department refused a wedding there in November 2025. We shortlist only permissible beach venues.
Fireworks. After a December 2025 nightclub fire, North and South Goa district orders banned fireworks and pyrotechnics at hotels, resorts and event venues. We check whether these orders are still in force for your dates.

Questions

Goa Wedding FAQs

Can we have music after 10 pm at a Goa wedding?

Not outdoors, except on a few state-notified festival days when music may continue until midnight. The Goa State Pollution Control Board has said weddings get no exemption.

What is the best time for a Goa beach wedding?

October to March, with clear skies and temperatures around 20–32°C. Avoid the June–September monsoon.

Do we need permission for a beach wedding in Goa?

Yes. Beach events need Tourism Department permission, and coastal-zone sites are also reviewed by the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority, which asks for at least a month.

Which airport should our guests fly into?

Mopa (GOX) for North Goa resorts such as W Goa and JW Marriott; Dabolim (GOI) for South Goa resorts such as The St. Regis and Alila Diwa.

Can we have fireworks at a Goa wedding?

District orders issued in December 2025 banned fireworks at hotels, resorts and event venues. We check whether they are still in force for your dates.

Should we book early for a December Goa wedding?

Yes. Christmas to New Year is Goa’s busiest period and five-star hotels fill up — we recommend planning about a year ahead.

Do you plan Goa weddings even though you are based in Jaipur?

Yes. We plan destination weddings across India, managing venues, permissions, décor, travel and guest hospitality end to end.
