Why Pushkar

A Wedding in Pushkar

Pushkar is one of India’s oldest pilgrimage towns, built around a sacred lake with 52 ghats and the Brahma Temple. For couples, it offers something no city venue can: a spiritual setting, open desert light and resorts that sit just outside town on the Ajmer and Motisar roads.

Because Pushkar is a holy town, weddings here need more local planning than most destinations — food and bar policies vary by venue, the Pushkar Fair changes hotel availability every November, and outdoor music has firm cut-off times. As a Jaipur-based team, we handle those details so your families simply enjoy the celebration.

Planner’s Notes

What to Know Before Planning in Pushkar

Food and bar policy. Pushkar town is traditionally vegetarian and alcohol-free. Resorts outside town set their own policies — some serve alcohol, others are vegetarian-only or allow outside bar service. We confirm this in writing with each venue before you book.
Pushkar Fair dates. The Pushkar Camel Fair runs 17–24 November 2026 and fills the town and nearby hotels. Avoid these dates, or lock room blocks very early.
Music timings. Under India’s noise rules, outdoor loudspeakers must stop between 10 pm and 6 am; enclosed banquet halls are exempt. We plan sangeet and after-parties around this.
Weather. October to February is the best window. May is the hottest month (up to ≈43°C) and July–August brings the monsoon.
Temple visits. The Brahma Temple has fixed darshan hours that change by season, and the evening aarti at the ghats is a popular guest experience — we build these into itineraries.

Questions

Pushkar Wedding FAQs

What is the best time for a Pushkar wedding?

October to February. Avoid peak summer heat in May, the July–August monsoon, and the Pushkar Fair dates (17–24 November in 2026).

Can we serve alcohol at a Pushkar wedding?

Pushkar town itself is traditionally alcohol-free. Some resorts outside town, such as The Westin Pushkar, have licensed bars; others do not. Policies vary by venue, so we confirm them before booking.

Is non-vegetarian food allowed at Pushkar weddings?

The town is traditionally vegetarian. Menus at resorts outside town differ venue by venue, and we check this during venue shortlisting.

How far is Pushkar from Jaipur?

About 145 km, or roughly two and a half hours by road.

Which airport is closest to Pushkar?

Kishangarh Airport (KQH), about 26–49 km from the main resorts. Jaipur International Airport is about 160 km away.

Can the sangeet music go late?

Outdoor loudspeakers must stop at 10 pm under national noise rules. Enclosed banquet halls are exempt, so late events are usually planned indoors.

Yes. We manage travel from Jaipur, Kishangarh and Delhi, room blocks, transfers and on-ground guest care.
